Massachusetts House Approves Massive Tax Increase

April 11, 2008

Who didn’t see this coming when Deval Patrick became governor of Massachusetts? Liberals get upset when you call them tax and spend Democrats, yet they prove it time and time again. Governor Patrick ran on the promise of property tax relief. Shortly after taking the oath of office he informed Massachusetts voters that he couldn’t come through on his promise. He just couldn’t find any spending to cut.

Now the Massachusetts house has approved a massive tax increase. Surprise, surprise.

House lawmakers last night gave approval to $392 million in tax increases for smokers and the state’s largest corporations, providing Governor Deval Patrick with a major political victory

Don’t you love how they call a tax increase a political victory? What do you think Massachusetts residents? Does this feel like a victory to you? This will increase the cigarette tax another $1.00 a pack to $2.51 a pack. Once again smokers take a huge hit just to pay for the over-indulgent state government.

Those businesses that don’t decide to relocate to a state that is much more business friendly causing workers to lose their jobs and thus hurting the economy and destroying the revenue streams that Massachusetts is trying to increase will simply pass the increased business costs on to the consumer. So those of you who suffer from class envy and want to see businesses hurt, remember you will be paying the price, not the businesses.

And they wonder why we call them tax and spend liberals. They show us why every time.

I guess the difference is the word, “not.” — Republicans like to say Tax and Spend Democrats, but the last 3 Republican presidents, under whom 70% of the accumulated national debt was accumulated, are, (NOT) Tax and (still) Spend (like drunken fools) Republicans. We all know, and need to remember, that Rebulicans are the biggest spenders of them all.

Fret not MK, you should be happy 3 liberals are running this year- and things will be so much better– NOT. I’m just glad the next town over from me is in NH. Yes, I am a smoker. What’s next? coffee? Yep, caffeine’s bad for ya too! Like I said before, Deval sucks.

the tax should go up especially for things like cigarettes and coffee because thats the people who smoke and drink coffee are the ones who smell bad and also because no one care about these peoples PRECIOUS ciggarettes so tax needs to go up on idiots… no offense to anyone but thats how i feel oh and i would probably put myself in the independant party and another thing is that people who smoke are partly responsible for making the rich CEO’s of ciggarette companys richer and people like that hurt the economy…thats your hint to stop smoking its really not that hard to quit smoking and i don’t want to hear whining about how its so hard to quit because thats BS in its purest form
